If you work in AK, AL, DE, GA, MD, MI, NY, OR, SC, TN, VA, or WA, you can take this course for supplemental training however the course is not approved by the state Stormwater Governing Body.

The 16-hour Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater (QCIS) Online - Enhanced certificate program trains participants how to inspect and maintain a construction site in compliance with the EPA and State General Permit programs. It covers the principles and practices of erosion and sediment control, pollution prevention, as well as the proper reporting and documentation requirements. It is comprised of five (5) modules and corresponding exams.
Course Modules:
- Introduction to Federal or State General Permit Program
- Principles and Practices of Erosion Control
- Principles and Practices of Sediment Control
- Principles and Practices of Pollution Prevention
- On-Site Construction Inspections
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the components and framework of the Federal or State permit program applicable to you.
- Describe the proper installation and maintenance of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).
- Identify the steps necessary to inspect construction sites and determine possible causes of BMP ineffectiveness and how to correct them.
- Explain how to complete an inspection report and document corrective actions.
- Summarize the communication process necessary between owner, operators, contractors, and stormwater pollution plan designer so the site stays in compliance throughout the construction project.
After successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate, wallet card, hardhat decal, and the QCIS Logo for marketing uses.
QCIS recertification is required every 2 years.

The course was very good at speaking of topics that can get quite technical in a way that most would find understandable. The topics within the course are very relevant to the project I am on and now I feel like I have more confidence with being the environmental compliant inspector. Was a good online training. Better than sitting in a classroom. Got to work at my own pace.
