"I personally attended a Green Education Services seminar and was so impressed I brought them to our office to train our staff, colleagues and clients on LEED. Fifteen staff members attended the LEED GA training and all 15 have passed the exam. The consensus was clear that the training provided by Green Education Services was key to learning the LEED GA requirements."

The Benefits of LEED Certification

Leave the Competition Behind. Whether you are a freelance designer, or head of a multi-million dollar corporation, it is important to stay on top of the cutting edge trends in your industry. In this economy, you can’t risk losing out on bids and potential business because you aren’t in the know. Having an Accredited Professional on staff can be a highly marketable asset. For example, did you know that all GBCI registered projects that have an Accredited Professional on the job receive an extra point towards the project certification? This easy, single point can be the difference between the project being awarded a Gold versus Silver status. This is just one of many examples of why having an Accredited Professional on staff can give you an edge over your competition.

Signify Your Green Building Expertise. You’ve worked hard to become educated on green building concepts and strategies. Turn this knowledge into a tangible credential, developed and backed by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Green Associate and Accredited Professional credentials have gained national and global notoriety as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system becomes one of the most widely used standards for green building and design. Having these credentials after your name and on your resume will help you become a more attractive candidate for green jobs, consulting gigs, and other opportunities in the green building field..

New Directions, New Business. Capitalize on the Green Collar economy. Whether you are looking to start a new career path, or develop new business for your company, accreditation can be a stepping-stone to new contacts and new opportunities for success in the green building and design fields.

Make a Difference in How We Design & Build. Many current methods used in the building industry can be harmful to our planet, our communities, and even our health. Take action towards improving this system, by learning and implementing more sustainable, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient practices. Whether it’s developing improved waste management strategies, or spearheading the installation of a green roof, individuals of all skills and backgrounds can play an integral role in promoting and implementing this change.

FAQ Section

+ Where Do I Start?

The first step for anyone who is new to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Energy program is to prepare for the Green Associate exam. Before you can take the exam, you must become eligible by either having experience on a qualifying project, working in sustainable field, or taking a class on green building principles. With Green Education Services’ exam preparation courses, you are able to fulfill the exam eligibility requirements while equipping yourself with the knowledge to pass on the first try.

+ What Will I Learn as a Green Associate?

  • Accreditation Overview
  • Sustainable Design & Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
  • Core Concepts of the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Rating Systems
  • Green Building Strategies & Concepts
  • Technical Analysis of Project Credits and Strategies

+ What Will I Learn as an Accredited Professional (AP)?

The Tier 2: AP+ course and exam content varies based on the specific rating system you are seeking accreditation in, and aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to be actively involved in the integrated design process, and to facilitate the project application process with GBCI. Topics covered include:

  • Sustainable Design & Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
  • Credit Intents & Requirements
  • Project & Team Coordination
  • Advanced Green Building Strategies & Concepts
  • Credit Synergies/Relationships

+ Who Should Become Accredited?

Becoming a Green Associate or Accredited Professional (AP) is appropriate for anyone interested in learning more about green building and sustainable design. Ideal backgrounds for AP candidates would include:

  • Architects
  • Engineers
  • Contractors
  • Interior Designers
  • Landscape Architects
  • Facility Managers
  • Energy Raters

In addition to the above named professions appropriate for the AP credential, Green Associate is ideal for professionals who do not wish to move on to the AP level, because their involvement in certified projects will be more tangential and possibly less technical. These candidates include:

  • Marketing and Sales Professionals
  • Public Policy Specialists
  • Financiers
  • Realtors
  • Employment Specialists
  • Lawyers
  • Support Staff
  • Educators

Green Associate is also a great credential for the unemployed or those looking to transition their career into the green sector.

+ Can I Jump Right to the AP Exam?

Everyone is required to take the Green Associate exam before they can become an AP. However, if you have experience on a GBCI-registered project you have the option of taking both the Green Associate and AP exams together on the same day. Check out the video at the top of this page to get a full understanding of the required order to receive the various USGBC accreditations

+ When & Where Can I Take the Exams?

The Green Associate and AP exams are actually offered on-demand, therefore there are no pre-scheduled dates or times. When you are ready to take your exam, and have been approved by GBCI, you can schedule an exam appointment at a Prometric Testing Center near you.
