Professional Excellence and BPI Certification
What most contractors and homeowners don't realize is that of the 128 million homes in America, many were constructed before modern building codes were in place. Without proper guidelines for designing, building, and maintaining residences, the current condition of American homes is one of the main reasons for unnecessary fossil fuel consumption. Our homes are responsible for more than 20% of the GHG (greenhouse gas emissions) in the country and this number only goes higher as the quality of homes further worsens as they get older. Unfortunately, most contractors are not prepared to identify the correct issues to provide useful solutions to the most common issues that lead to excessive energy-consuming homes.
BPI certification will give you the tools to analyze and correct any deficient features in older (and even modern!) residences. Professionals with BPI certification are currently in HUGE demand since so many local and regional government entities now require a BPI credential to be eligible for weatherization and energy audit-related tax credits.

NOPE! Becoming a certified BPI Building Analyst (aka Energy Auditor) requires no prior construction experience. Having building and/or construction experience is an absolute plus, but anyone is welcome to attend a GreenEDU Building Analyst 1 training and BPI certification course. Some of the course concepts are tough, but you're up for the challenge, right?
Each day in the schedule for GreenEDU's BPI certification course below starts at 8am and concludes at 5pm. When planning your travel to a course, wait until you speak to a GreenEDU representative to confirm whether or not you need to stay for the 6th day of field examinations. Give us a call at 1-800-355-1751 if you need clarification for your travel plans - this is also the number to call with any BPI certification questions.
Our BPI Certification training will introduce you to the tools you can expect to use in the field on a daily basis. These include a gas leak detector, combustion analyzer, pressure test kits, and our favorite, the blower door. No need to bring your own equipment to our BPI class - your instructor will have it all ready to play with when you start your field training!
BPI Certification is a title given to individuals while BPI Accreditation is for companies. An individual is attains BPI Certification after successfully attaining at least one BPI credential (i.e. Building Analyst 1, Envelope, Multi-family, etc.). In order for a business to become a BPI Accredited Home Performance Contractor, they must complete an application process and employ at least one person that is a BPI Building Analyst and also have a specialty BPI certification.
There are two exams required to attain BPI certification as a BPI Building Analyst: a written exam and a field exam. You need to get at least a 70% on the 100-question written exam and also must demonstrate that you understand how to use the primary tools required of a Building Analyst. Our course includes both of these exams, so there's no need to purchase anything besides GreenEDU's BPI certification course.
