Why Should You Take This Electric Safety Awareness for NFPA70 Course?

This course is designed for employees who work directly with electricity and for their supervisors and managers. The importance and purpose of safe work practices when performing tasks around potentially hazardous electrical conditions in the workplace are discussed. This course provides students with the knowledge necessary to help avoid or minimize electric shock or electrocution during their work shift through discussion of regulations, industry practice and hazard recognition and understanding of the hazards of electricity. This course also provides an in-depth introduction to the current NFPA 70E 2015 edition.

 

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of basic low voltage electrical theory and circuitry (50-600 volts, ac/ and d/c) 

 

Course Objectives:

  • Understand purpose and organization of OSHA
  • Understand the purpose and can apply NFPA 70E 2015 ed. to the workplace
  • Understand how OSHA, NEC and NFPA standards impact workplace safety
  • Hazards of Electricity
    • Shock
    • Arc Flash
    • NFPA 70E 2015 ed. Work Practices and requirements
    • Limited and Restricted approach boundaries
  • Selection of appropriate PPE based on work task
    • Introduction to NFPA 70E Tables for PPE selections
  • Understand selection, use and limitations of personal protective equipment
  • Understand determination of labeling and protective boundaries

 

This course provides you with an 8-hour course certificate upon completion.
