This Contractor/Supervisor Deleader Initial training provides information on lead-based paint abatement and regulatory guidelines. The course focuses on essential abatement procedures including site preparation, contract planning, project management, abatement implementation and record-keeping.
This course is designed for deleading residential dwellings, including houses and large buildings with numerous units. The deleader training allows the supervisor or contractor to receive a license and to utilize all deleading methods including applying encapsulants as a deleading method. Those who attend the contractor/supervisor courses can get licensed as a worker, supervisor, or contractor.
Course Content:
Who Should Attend?
Please Note: This course alone does not allow you to do deleading. Contractors and Supervisors must be certified by Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards (DLS). Additionally, persons who work in the field must receive a medical examination (typically provided by employer), and respirator fit-testing, and must pass a 3rd party exam (with a score of 70 or greater) given by the state.
Prerequisites: You must be at least 18-years-old to apply for a Deleader Supervisor license in the State of Massachusetts. There are NO education or experience requirements.
Reciprocity: Once Licensed in Massachusetts, you may apply for reciprocity in the following New England States: Connecticut, Rhode Island (worker only), Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Requirements for Successful Completion:
-Ability to Read, Understand and Speak English Language
-Attend entire course in consecutive days
-Pass a written 100 question, multiple choice exam
Maintaining Accreditation: To continue to work in the deleading field, you must attend and successfully complete an 8-hour annual refresher. This refresher must be completed prior to the expiration date on your training certificate. Massachusetts has adopted a 12-month grace period during which you cannot work in deleading, but may attend the 8-hour annual refresher course. If the refresher course is not completed within the grace period, you must repeat the initial 4-day course. Check with your state for state specific requirements.
