This Tennessee Residential/Small Commercial (BC-A, b sm) Contractor License Exam Prep Online Anytime course covers construction or remodeling of one, two, three or four unit residences not exceeding three stories, or commercial projects $750,000 or less. Our course is designed around everything you will be tested on with engaging HD Videos, interactive practice quizzes and interesting visuals. You will pass the exam after completing our course!

The Following Topics Will Be Covered:

  • Sitework, Footings and Foundations – 6 questions
  • Concrete and Concrete Reinforcement – 8 questions
  • Masonry – 6 questions
  • Metals – 12 Questions
  • Carpentry – 6 questions
  • Roofing – 7 questions
  • Associated Trades – 5 questions
  • OSHA Safety – 5 questions
  • General Code, Plan Reading, and Estimating – 15 questions

You will also need to pass the Business & Law Management exam to go along with your Trade exam. You must pass both parts before you can apply for a license.

 

How long does it take to complete the course?
The Tennessee Contractor License Exam courses take approximately 8 hours each, but we move rapidly through the materials. For a thorough review, you may want to allow twice that amount of time.

 

Is the NASCLA Accredited Commercial Contractor exam accepted in Tennessee?

Yes!

When you pass the NASCLA Accredited Examination for Commercial General Building Contractors, you will be listed in the NASCLA National Examination Database. You will then have this information available for the following states which accept this NASCLA Accredited Examination: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

 

Is contractor continued education required in Tennessee?
No

 

Does Tennessee require a General contractor (commercial contractor) license?

A Tennessee contractor’s license is required BEFORE bidding or offering a price, for projects $25,000 and up (includes materials and labor), as a prime (general) contractor; and many subcontractors. Reciprocal agreements do NOT allow using another state’s license in Tennessee.
