Why Should You Take This Introduction to IEQ Webinar?
This 2-hour introductory webinar provides an overview of indoor environmental quality initiatives. The course stresses the importance that a building's interior can have on an occupant or installer's health, safety, and overall well-being, thus promoting the social responsibility component of the triple bottom line. It will also identify issues such as indoor air quality, acoustical performance, low-emitting materials, thermal comfort, controllability of systems, and access to daylight and views.
Upon completion of the seminar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the parameters of the indoor environment including air quality, accessibility to comfort controls, and access to the exterior environment
- Analyze the effects of indoor environmental quality on an occupant's health, safety, and productivity
- Identify synergies between indoor environmental quality and other sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency
- Specify the broad range of strategies that can improve the overall quality of interior spaces
Students will be introduced to the topic of why traditional methods of designing and constructing buildings have lead to problems such as sick building syndrome and a lack of social responsibility. The lecture will emphasize the benefits of indoor environmental quality, such as increased tenant attraction and retention, as well as, increased productivity.
