Why Should You Take This 7-Hour Minnesota Construction Safety Continuing Education Online Anytime course?

In Minnesota, all building contractors and remodelers who contract with a homeowner to construct or improve dwellings by offering more than one special skill must be licensed. 14 hours of state-approved continuing education is required for every two year licensing cycle to maintain this license. At least one hour of Energy Code must be included for every two-year licensing period. There is no longer a requirement for one hour of lead paint training. That requirement changed to Energy Code several years ago.

This 7-Hour Minnesota Construction Safety Continuing Education Online Anytime course is approved by the State of Minnesota and fulfills 7 credit hours of continued education toward the Minnesota Builders license, Contractors license or Manufactured Home Installer license. This is the fastest and most convenient method of completing your Minnesota builders and remodelers continued education.

Please Note:  Half of the builders and remodelers in Minnesota must renew each year by March 31st. The State of Minnesota will not allow you to take the same course twice within a 2 year cycle. Students will have up to six months of access to course content.

What Will Be Included In This 7-Hour Minnesota Construction Safety Continuing Education Online Anytime course?

This seven hour course is a review of the safety codes required for residential construction. At the end of this course, you will understand the basic component of a Construction Safety Program, recognize construction jobsite hazards and learn how to prevent them, and learn the safety responsibilities of both the employer and the employee.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Chapter 1 - Introduction

Objectives:  1) Describe the differences between Minnesota and federal OSHA regulations and standards 2) Distinguish between employer and employee rights and responsibilities.

Chapter 2 - Personal Protective Equipment

Objectives:  1) Describe the causes of the most common workplace injuries 2) Name the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) most often used to protect workers.

Chapter 3 - Falls in Construction

Objectives: 1)Describe methods of fall protection available to workers. 2) Explain the main criteria that prompts the use of fall protection for construction workers.

Chapter 4 - Stairways and Ladders

Objectives: 1) Describe safety guidelines and requirements for stairways used at a construction site. 2) List safe practices and requirements for ladders used at a construction site.

Chapter 5 - Scaffolds

Objectives: 1) Recognize the hazards associated with different types of scaffolds. 2) Understand the procedures that must be followed in order to control and minimize those hazards.

Chapter 6 - Excavations

Objectives: 1) State the greatest risk that is present at an excavation. 2) Describe the three primary methods for protecting employees form cave-ins. 3) Name factors that pose a hazard to employees working in excavations, and how to reduce those hazards. 4) Describe the role of a competent person at an excavation site.

Chapter 7 - Egress/Fire Protection

Objectives: 1) Describe OSHA requirements for proper fire prevention, egress, and equipment. 2) Be able to create a working emergency action and fire prevention plan.

Chapter 8 - Hazard Communication

Objectives: 1) Identify employer responsibilities towards reducing workplace hazards. 2) Be familiar with the information provided in Material Safety Data Sheets.

Chapter 9 - Tool Safety

Objectives: 1) Describe the hazards surrounding the use of hand and power tools. 2) List the important safety tips associated with Powder-Actuated Tools. 3) Explain the basic procedures for safe jack handling.

Chapter 10 - Materials Handling

Objectives: 1) Identify, avoid, and control hazardous materials through proper handling, storage, use and disposal.

Final Assessment–30 Multiple choice questions (our program will not allow you to fail)
