As of April 22, 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repairs, or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be EPA Lead Safe Certified. Individuals and firms that are not certified could face fines of up to $37,500 per day.
The Lead Renovator Certification Initial course is 8 hours in length and includes both EPA-approved lead safety training and certification. Any contractor performing work on pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities must employ at least one Certified Renovator who has successfully completed this training. Companies must also be registered as a Lead Safe Certified Firm with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The course concludes with a 25 question exam.

The class was very educational and Scott the instructor kept me interested in the subject. The class time passed by very quickly, it didn't seem like a full day course.

Scott was thoroughly knowledgeable and presented the material in a manner that was loyal to the Socratic method but not the least bit dull. He sprinkled the presentation with interesting anecdotes about how he had experienced issues involving lead paint in his own professional life. This gave the material a real world relevance that was important.

The instructors were very pleasant and friendly and made us feel welcome, answering every question we asked. I was however disappointed with a lack of detail regarding certain procedures, and see items on the "shopping lists" in the manual that were not discussed, such as corn starch.There was very little hands on performed by students, mostly just the instructor showing us the physical procedures.

My experience at Seagull Enviromental Training was great, Dana my Teaher was a very knowledgeble instructor she solved all of my doubts and also is going to make herself and her team available for any future questions. They took the time to explain all the handson material as well as the manuals. If i have the chance I will come back for more of their training courses.

Lonny Davis made the class interesting and the time pass quickly by explaining the parts of modules without making them difficult .I would definitely take an additional certification classes especially if lonny is going to be the instructor.

Instructor did her best to make a rather boring subject entertaining. Proper lead removal practices are very important. She had stories, which brought the importance to light.
