This 1-hour certification course is required by law for New Jersey property owners, contractors, weatherization, or maintenance workers performing work on pre-1978 multi-family dwellings with 3 or more residences, or emergency shelters & boarding homes. This class is an add-on to the EPA's 8-Hour Lead Renovators (RRP) course. 

New Jersey Lead Regulations Certification Curriculum was developed by the Division of Housing and Community Resources, Indoor Environmental Hazards Unit as a Model Curriculum on NJ regulations pertaining to property owners, contractors, weatherization, maintenance workers and others performing work on pre-1978 structures which are subject to Lead Safe Building Maintenance Practices. Those structures include: multiple dwellings, emergency shelters which house women and children and rooming & boarding homes which house women and children.

Topics Include:

  • NJ Property Maintenance Regulations regarding lead-based paint in Multiple Dwellings, Emergency Shelters and Rooming/Boarding Houses
  • Uniform Construction Code prohibited practices and lead permit requirements
  • Regulations set forth by the New Jersey Division of Codes and Standards
  • Standard treatments of building components
  • On-going evaluation and maintenance
  • Tenant notification of lead-based paint
  • Recordkeeping for NJ Property Maintenance Regulations
  • Training requirements for workers performing maintenance or repair activities on these types of structures
  • Enforcement procedures of these NJ Codes and Regulations

Compliance Codes Met:  This one-hour course has been approved by the Division of Codes and Standards to meet the regulatory training requirements found at N.J.A.C. 5:10- 6.6(g)(1), Regulations for Maintenance of Hotels and Multiple Dwellings, N.J.A.C. 5:15 Emergency Shelters for the Homeless and N.J.A.C. 5:27 Regulations Governing Rooming and Boarding Houses.

June was so knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in lead safety!
I learned the how serious lead is to human life, and especially children.

Meet Your Instructor

June has spent 29 years in the Electronic Security Industry, starting as an installer. In 1991, June was one of the first women in the US to achieve Advanced Burglar Alarm Technician Certification, when that program was instituted by the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association's, National Training School. She also holds Level II Certification in the field of Fire Protection Engineering Technology through the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies. She co-authored the training program for "Retro-Fit Low Voltage Wiring Installation" for the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association. June has been in the Volunteer Fire Service for 25 years and has trained to the Hazardous Materials Operations Level. She has been a Fire Service Instructor II in Pennsylvania since 2003. June is married and has two children, 4 step children, 14 grandchildren of assorted shapes & sizes and enjoys reading the works of several good mystery writers.

Certifications: EPA Certified Lead Renovator, ABAT - Advanced Burglar Alarm Technician, FAIM Fire Alarm Installation & Maintenance, Licensed for alarm install in DE - 06-203, PA State Certified Fire Service Instructor Level II (since 2003)
